Oricon recently opened an online poll to find out which authors had the most influence on manga history. Or to put it another way, which author has changed the face of the manga industry.
Below are the results for the top 7.
1. Osamu Tezuka
He is said to be the “grandfather of the anime” and the “father of the manga”, the author of immortal works such as Astro Boy, Buddha, Black Jack and Phoenix. His story is famous for its “succinct and concise” content. Among his works, I like Phoenix the best. The fact that Tezuka is arguably the most influential person in manga history is entirely understandable.
2. Akira Toriyama
